Moss climbs up the steps, turning them green, and grass colors the curtains with its verdant hue. I can converse with erudite scholars and have no dealings with commoners. I can play the unadorned zither and read the golden scriptures. There are no noisy strings or pipes to disturb my ears, nor any official documents to weary my body. The cottage of Zhuge Liang in Nanyang and the pavilion of Zi Yun in Xishu, both are simple dwellings. Confucius said, “What is there to be considered humble?”
